Simplified Development with Angular 15 Features
Developing in Angular 15 allowed us to leverage the latest features and ensure compatibility with other tools in our tech stack.
We found that working with the HERE Maps API was relatively straightforward once we had grasped the core concepts. The API documentation was clear and easy to follow.
Recently, we developed a powerful tool that allows users to search and select locations with ease, even if they don’t have a registered address.
One of the key challenges we faced was developing a search algorithm that could handle partial addresses and descriptions. We eventually settled on a combination of fuzzy search and word stemming.
The Location Picker Tool utilizes a combination of search algorithms and geocoding to accurately identify locations based on partial addresses or even just descriptions.
Geocoding proved to be a powerful tool that allowed us to extract latitude and longitude coordinates from addresses with high accuracy. By using these coordinates, we were able to plot markers on the map and provide accurate location data to our users.
Despite the limited documentation available for Angular 15, we put in our best efforts and successfully integrated the HERE Maps API to create an impressive product that’s packed with features.
Enhancing Usability and Functionality
Working on this project required us to add several necessary functionalities, such as a search bar and draggable markers, which further enhance the usability and functionality of the tool.
The search bar was a critical component of the Location Picker Tool, and we invested a significant amount of time in refining its functionality. The ability to filter search results by location type (e.g. city, address, landmark) made the tool much easier to use.
We also implemented a feature that allows users to easily switch between different map styles and customize the look and feel of the location picker tool.
We wanted to offer a range of map styles to cater to different user preferences, so we implemented a dropdown menu that allowed users to select their preferred style. The HERE Maps API offered a broad selection of styles, from minimalist to highly detailed.
Our team ensured that every aspect of the tool was user-friendly, resulting in a final product that earned high praise from our client.
